Fifty questions. Build answered all fifty. Now it’s their turn.

Every party wants your vote. Very few will tell you, in plain English and in writing, where they stand on the fifty things that actually decide whether your life gets better or worse over the next ten years.

So Build wrote the questions down and answered every single one — publicly, before being asked, with no hedging and no “that’s a great question.” All fifty answers are below. They are on the record and they can be held against us.

The rules — the same for everyone

  1. Answer all fifty. Yes or no first. Then explain. Partial answers count as partial answers and will be shown as such.
  2. Publish them on your own website within seven days of being asked, so nobody can claim they were misquoted.
  3. Send us the link through the Challenge page. We will publish it here in full, verbatim, unedited — including every answer that disagrees with ours, and especially those. Or answer them here: the answer form takes all fifty — yes or no first, then the reasoning. It publishes nothing until the answers have been verified: you email a reference from the party’s own domain, and we check the signature that domain’s mail servers put on the message. A form on its own proves nothing about who filled it in.
  4. Change your mind later? Tell us. We’ll update your row and date the change. Changing your mind in public is not a weakness. Pretending you never held the old position is.

We are not asking anyone to agree with us. On several of these, a serious party will answer “no” and have good reasons. That is a debate worth having. What is not worth having is another decade of parties that will not put a straight answer next to their name.

Silence is an answer too. If a column is still empty seven days after asking, that is what this page will say — and it will keep saying it until it changes.

Build’s own answers are the ones published on this site, costed in the fiscal model and set out year by year in the plan. If you think one of them is wrong, challenge it — that offer stands for the public and for the six parties above.

  1. 07 Should the minimum wage rise to at least £15/hour within this parliament?

    Build UK Yes. £15 an hour is the floor from BUILD's first April budget, rising to £18 in Year Two and £20 in Year Three, then by at least 5% every year after that. (Work & Workers Charter, Pillar 1.)

  2. 08 Should zero-hours contracts be banned where they are used to avoid employment rights?

    Build UK Yes, and further: zero-hours contracts are abolished outright. Every contract guarantees minimum weekly hours, and if the employer can't provide them, it pays for them anyway. (Work & Workers Charter, §2.4.)

  3. 09 Should income tax be halved for workers earning under £50,000?

    Build UK Partly — cut hardest at the bottom rather than halved across the board. The first £20,000 is completely tax- and NI-free, and a full-time worker on £15 an hour goes from paying about 17% to about 9%, around £2,300 a year back. (Tax Reform Charter, Pillars 1–2.)

  4. 10 Should companies paying below the real living wage be barred from government contracts?

    Build UK Yes. Taxpayer money should not subsidise poverty wages. Every worker on a public contract, subcontractors and outsourced staff included, is paid at least the Real Living Wage, or BUILD's £15 floor once it is in force. (Build It — Fix It Charter, Pillar 8.)

  5. 11 Should gig economy workers receive full employment protections?

    Build UK Yes, if they want them. Every platform must offer every worker the choice: full employment with every right in the charter, or genuine contractor freedom with a guaranteed hourly earnings floor, accident insurance and pension.   6. 12 Should executive pay be capped at a fixed ratio of the lowest-paid worker in the same company?

    Build UK Yes — ten to one, at most. If the CEO wants a raise, the cleaner gets one first — including a cleaner you outsource. Anyone who works regularly for your company through a contractor or agency counts as your worker for the ratio, so contracting out the lowest-paid jobs does not take them out of the sum.   1. 13 Should there be a cap on private rental prices?

  2. 14 Should housing associations be subject to independent annual inspection with public results?

  4. 16 Should landlords be required to meet minimum habitability standards enforced by annual inspection?

    Build UK Yes. A council officer inspects every rental on day one and on the last day, and a tenant who complains about damp or a broken boiler cannot be evicted for it: any notice within six months of a complaint is presumed retaliatory and void. (Planning & Housing Charter, §13.4–13.5.)

  5. 17 Should the Right to Buy be suspended until council housing stock is rebuilt to adequate levels?

  4. 22 Should age verification use ISP-level confirmation rather than biometric scanning or ID uploads?

  1. 25 Should ancient woodlands receive absolute legal protection from development?

  5. 29 Should rewilding and food sovereignty be given equal planning weight to commercial development?

  6. 30 Should water companies be banned from paying dividends while discharging untreated sewage?

  2. 32 Should Carer's Allowance be raised to at least the minimum wage equivalent for hours worked?

  3. 33 Should NHS dentistry be restored as a universal service?

  4. 34 Should mental health services receive funding parity with physical health in the NHS?

    Build UK Yes. Every claim decided in four weeks, one appeal decided within the next eight, twelve weeks in total. A refused claim gets a paid voluntary return within 28 days, then removal. Why this page exists

Build answered every question because voters deserve to know exactly where a party stands before an election, not after. Fifty questions, fifty answers, one page, no press office in between.

Six parties have been tagged on X with the same fifty, more than once. If they answer, their answers go here in full — and if their answer is better than ours, we will say so and change ours. That is the whole point of publishing first.

If they don’t answer, this page stays exactly as it is: fifty answers in one column and four empty ones.

We read every submission. We respond to every substantive challenge. If you break the model, we'll fix it and credit you.

Build is a fictional / prototype political programme unless and until it is formally registered and standing candidates. The questions and Build’s answers are real positions taken from the published plan; the parties named above are real, and nothing on this page should be read as their view, their words, or a response from them. Any column marked “no response” means exactly that — no response has been received, not that a response was refused.
